Getting Started
You may contact me by phone or e-mail to discuss setting up an appointment. Generally, I am able to respond more quickly via e-mail.
If you intend to use your insurance to pay for therapy, it is helpful to contact your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits prior to contacting me. Note that I am only in-network with BCBS PPO and Personal Help Connection plans.
If we decide to work together, please read and sign my Office Policies and Privacy Practices notice and complete the Personal Information Form to bring to our first session.
The Process of Therapy
During the initial sessions, I will gather general information about you and your current concerns. This will enable us to identify the issues on which to focus.
Treatment can include open-ended therapy that continues until you feel finished or therapy that lasts for a predetermined length of time. What we decide about how to structure therapy will be our working plan, which can be modified as the need arises. Because I value collaboration in the therapeutic relationship, I encourage you to share your ideas and feelings about treatment.
I usually schedule one 50-minute session per week at a time that we agree upon, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent. I do not typically schedule sessions less often than once per week.
Finding the right connection with a therapist is essential to success. Thus, if we work together, it is important that it feels like the right fit, both in terms of personality and therapeutic approach. I encourage you to ask me any questions you have about my style or therapy in general.
If you choose not to pursue psychotherapy with me, or if I do not provide the particular type of therapy that would be most effective for you, I will refer to a colleague who can provide the appropriate services.
